A policeman accused of raping a young mum after she refused to join him in a threesome has described stripping off with two women as a “moment of madness”.
Andrew Robertson is on trial at the High Court in Aberdeen accused of carrying out the sex attack on a woman at her home on Deeside.
His accuser has also claimed that Robertson’s partner Elaine Duncan pinned her down on a sofa by her arms while he raped her.
Giving evidence on Tuesday, Ms Duncan, who is not facing any charges, denied the allegation.
The woman, who can not be named for legal reasons, told the jury that the couple tried to ply her with “special champagne” before attempting to entice her into having sex with them both.
She said that when she refused she was sexually assaulted.
Robertson, of 6 Craigferrar Way, Aboyne, denies rape and his counsel Shelagh McCall has lodged a special defence claiming that the sex was consensual.
The court heard previously Robertson had been drinking and playing striptease games with his partner and the alleged victim at the woman’s house.
Police later found photos from the night of the alleged incident on his phone which showed Ms Duncan and his accuser flashing their breasts at the camera.
Yesterday, the court heard transcripts of a police interview carried out on January 23, 2012 – 10 days after the alleged offence.
Detective Constable Julie Cruickshank, one of the interviewing officers, appeared as the final Crown witness in the trial.
The court heard that during the interview Robertson claimed one of the women had suggested the stripping game – calling it “a bit of fun”.
He said: “One of them said to take it turn about taking clothes off.
“Aye, one item at a time we went round one at a time. It was all amicable – it was nothing.
“It was three adults having a bit of fun.”
The police asked Robertson if there was anything sinister behind the games and if that was normal behaviour for the group.
He replied: “No it was just a moment of madness. We were all egging each other on.”
The court also heard evidence yesterday from forensic scientist Sarah Jones, who confirmed that semen with DNA matching that of 49-year-old Robertson was found on the pants of the alleged victim.
The trial, before Lord Turnbull, continues.
