Chavdar Ivanov, 30, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in connection with the crash near Marykirk in November 2013. Two BMW 3 Series cars collided on the A937 Laurencekirk to Montrose Road. A 27-year-old pregnant woman, a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to hospital following the crash. She required an emergency procedure to deliver her baby but the boy, later named Bojidar, did not survive the trauma. His mother is originally from Bulgaria but had relocated to Aberdeenshire. It is understood she lives in the Gourdon area. Mr Ivanov, whose address was given in court only as Montrose, appeared in private infront of Sheriff Kenneth Stewart. The accused made no plea or declaration and he was released on bail. The Scene of the A937 crash
