Residents of a growing north-east village got the chance to view plans for new commercial units last night.
The Northwoods Business Park scheme at Mintlaw could be shaped to form the headquarters of a local firm, but could also house several other offices in industrial units and yards.
A household waste recycling centre is also included in the blueprint.
Planning consultants Knight Frank and architects Baxter Design held a public consultation on the proposals at the MACBI Centre yesterday.
Dozens of residents turned out to have their say on the scheme, which has been allocated space in the emerging local development plan.
Councillor Jim Ingram said last night: “What interests me is the various business units, they would certainly go a long way to meeting the inquiries I get from the general public. I would welcome that.
“It’s positive to see plans coming through for Mintlaw. If it goes ahead it opens up the opportunity for businesses, which brings more jobs and prosperity to the area. It will bring a bit of balance to the village.”
Gary Purves, senior planner with Knight Frank, said: “As part of the wider masterplan for Mintlaw there is already housing being built by Colaren Homes to the north of the village.
“We have decided to bring forward the proposed business park development due to demand in Mintlaw for commercial premises.
“By investing in the village we believe there is an opportunity to create employment opportunities and to create a vibrant business hub, in line with the growth of the village.”
