The affected properties are all in the Bridge of Don area. SSE has confirmed 1,700 homes were initially hit by the power cut but this has been reduced to around 1,200. The worst-hit areas are Forvie Crescent, Jesmond Road and Slanes Avenue. A spokesman for SSE said: “The priority now is to get everyone back on as quickly and safely as possible. “We would like to apologise to customers affected but assure them we are doing everything we can to restore their power.” Police said they expected some homes to be without power until around 10pm tonight.
