Families across the north-east will get information on healthy eating as part of a nationwide roadshow later this month.
The Scottish Government’s Eat Better Feel Better campaign will visit supermarkets throughout the region to encourage healthy habits.
It comes after a Scottish Government survey found that homecooking was on the decline in Aberdeenshire, with families instead turning to takeaways and convenience foods.
While the research suggested that over half of mothers considered themselves capable cooks, four in 10 families were eating takeaways at least once a week.
Three in 10 were eating the often fatty food at least three times a week.
Public Health Secretary Maureen Watt said that eating healthily could be a challenge for many families.
“However, there are many quick and cheap changes that we can make which can lead to significant improvements in our daily diets,” she added.
“We know that helping children to eat healthier from a young age can help them avoid major illnesses later in life. That’s why we’re working together with retailers and community groups from across the country in getting behind Scotland’s families – to provide the support, encouragement and advice which will help them eat better and ultimately feel better.”
The campaign will visit Asda in Aberdeen’s Beach Boulevard, on Thursday, February 26.
The next day, it will arrive at Peterhead’s Lidl store on Windmill Road, before setting up shop at Watermill Road’s Asda, in Fraserburgh, on February 28.
Each roadshow event takes place from 11am-7pm, when shoppers will offered tips and advice to help make healthier choices in the kitchen.
