The affected properties were all in the Bridge of Don area. SSE confirmed 1,700 homes were initially hit by the power cut, but power was restored around 8pm. The worst-hit areas were Forvie Crescent, Jesmond Road and Slanes Avenue. A spokesman for SSE said earlier tonight it was unclear what had caused the problem.
