A controversial housing plan for a north-east village has been agreed despite objections from the community.
The proposals, lodged by developer Colaren Homes, sparked a flurry of complaints from local residents about the visual impact the six new homes will have on Rathen.
The tiny settlement on the A90 Fraserburgh to Peterhead road is home to a historic church, and one objection argued the new development would spoil the landscape around the building.
However members of the Banff and Buchan area committee this morning threw their weight behind the plans.
Councillors agreed to delagate their approval to Aberdeenshire Council’s planning department, and construction is expected to get underway in early 2017.
