More than 100 rooms had to be evacuated at a popular Aberdeen hotel as a result of a fire in the early hours of this morning.
At around 3.40am, fire and rescue service received reports of a fire at the Thistle Aberdeen Airport Hotel.
Nine firefighters in two appliances from North Anderson Drive responded to the call and 112 rooms had to be evacuated.
The crews battled the blaze, which was in the hotel roof space, for around an hour.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
A spokesman for the hotel said: “We can confirm that the fire service was called to the hotel at around 3.30am this morning as a result of a fire in the roof space above the ballroom.
“All guests were safely evacuated into the car park, and were allowed by firefighters to return to the lounge area a short time later. Guests returned to their rooms by 5am.
“Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire. It was isolated to a small area of the roof space and no significant damage has been caused to the hotel. We are continuing to operate as normal.
“We would like to thank guests for their patience and understanding, and the fire service for their quick response to the incident.”
