Around 5,000 people attended the fireworks display in Ellon on Saturday marking the event as one of the town’s busiest yet.
Crowds of people were seen descending on Gordon Park last night to watch the much-anticipated pyrotechnics display.
Entry was free however, a small donation was asked by volunteers manning the park entrances from those entering.
Lit up by funfairs rides and upbeat tunes, the smell of candied goodies and hot chocolate from food vendors drew groups into the Ellon park.
At 7.30pm the display kicked off as families and friends illuminated by bright lights craned their necks to the night sky and took in the colourful display.
The Ellon and District Round Table who organised the fun-filled event, said the display by NJE Fireworks was a huge hit.
George Stewart said people had come from all over Aberdeenshire for the event
“It went really, really well,” he said. “We think there was somewhere between 4,000 to 5,000 people there.
‘Good to see local businesses doing well’
“We’ve had quite a lot of feedback from people who had travelled from quite far to come and see us.
“They really enjoyed it and said they would be back for sure. It’s always good to hear these kind of comments.
“We think it was busier than last year and this year we had more vendors and more funfair rides.
“We had several food stalls versus only having one last year. I think it improved the event, all the food vendors pretty much sold out as well. They all had a good night and it’s good to see local businesses doing well.
“It definitely feels like the last few years are behind us and things are getting back to normal in terms of large public events.”
The Round Table members have more events lined up and have just put their annual Christmas trees up for sale.
Throughout December they will also be carrying out more festive activities such as Santa Sleigh visits and collecting toys and gifts for Cash for Kids.
