The Crown Office is still investigating a crash which claimed the life of a north-east man more than four months ago.
Henry McPherson died after his grey Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Ford Focus C-Max collided on the Toll of Birness-Mintlaw stretch of the A952.
The 61-year-old’s female passenger and the woman driver of the Ford were injured in the late-night accident on October 3.
Mr McPherson, who was known as Harry, died at the scene.
A spokesman for the Crown Office said last night that the procurator fiscal had yet to make a decision on whether anyone would be charged in connection with the crash.
“The investigation into the death, under the direction of the Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit (SFIU), is ongoing and the family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments,” he said.
The SFIU is a specialist unit which investigates all sudden, suspicious, accidental and unexplained deaths.
It provides expertise and specialist advice to fiscals.
A police spokeswoman earlier said that the force’s report into the death of Mr McPherson had been submitted to the fiscal.
The Crown Office confirmed that it had been received.
Mr McPherson’s vehicle landed on its side on a grass embankment following the crash on a series of bends near Clola, about three miles north of Mintlaw.
His passenger and the driver of the Ford, who was travelling alone, both had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.
They were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with what were described as “serious injuries”.
It is understood the Ford Focus was travelling south and Mr McPherson, from St Fergus, was heading north.
