Hundreds of Santas will run down Aberdeen’s Union Street later this month to raise money for charity.
Charlie House’s popular Santa Run will take place on November 20, kick-starting the city’s Christmas Light Switch On.
People of all ages and abilities can take part in the fun walk or run, as long as they can complete it in half an hour.
Wheelchair users and those with prams are also welcome to take part in the 1,000-metre dash from the Holburn junction to Castle Street.
The event begins at 5.20pm, coinciding with the Christmas Light Switch On parade.
A parade featuring Santas on Scooters, panto characters, festive floats and local charities will snake down Union Street, accompanied by Grampian and District Pipes and Drums and the Rock Choir and Aberdeen Churches Together.
Santa Run ‘fantastic’
To register for the Santa Run you must be 16 years of age or older on event day, those aged 15 and under must be registered and accompanied during the event by an adult.
Entry is £12.50 for adults, £10 for children or £40 for a family of up to two adults and up to three children. It is £12.50 for wheelchair users and a parent/carer.
The fee includes a Santa suit, a bib number, and a finishers medal.
The run raises awareness and much-needed funds for Charlie House, a charity that works to improve the quality of life for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Susan Crighton, director of fundraising at Charlie House, is delighted to see the event back for the first time since 2019.
She said: “This is a fantastic event, especially as it’s accessible for wheelchair users and their parent/carers. This means that many of the families that we support can get involved and supports our mission to offer accessible activities and support services to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in north-east Scotland.”
