Seasonal flights to Aberdeen and Inverness from Manchester will no longer be operating, easyJet has confirmed.

First introduced in 2021, the flights usually run from March to the end of October. However the airline has said they will not be returning next year.

The Luton-based carrier reintroduced the Aberdeen to Manchester service this year after it was axed due to travel restrictions in 2021.

With fares starting at £22.99, the route was expected to appeal to those wanting to reconnect with loved ones after the numerous lockdowns and to encourage more exploration of other UK cities.

It was also hoped the routes between Aberdeen and Inverness to Manchester would help restore pre-pandemic business levels at the airports.

Efforts focused on maintaining routes with ‘greatest demand’

The journeys appear to have suffered from poor sales after easyJet confirmed the flights will no longer be operating between the cities.

Instead, the company said efforts would be focused on maintaining flights which remain in high demand with customers.

Journeys between London Gatwick and Luton as well as Geneva and Bristol will continue to operate.

An easyJet spokeswoman said: “EasyJet can confirm it is no longer operating flights from Inverness and Aberdeen to Manchester.

“We concentrate our efforts on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers, focusing on offering routes with the greatest demand, and we continue to serve customers in Aberdeen with flights to London Gatwick, London Luton and Geneva and Inverness with flights to London Gatwick, London Luton and Bristol.”

The cancellations form part of the airline’s removal of several routes from its booking system.
