Rescue teams have resumed a search for a missing north-east woman this morning.
A major search operation was launched yesterday evening at Dunnottar Castle, south of Stonehaven, after Shona Johnstone’s black Nissan X-trail was discovered parked at the entrance.
The 35-year-old was reported missing from her Mearns home by her “concerned” family earlier that day.
Police officers and coastguard teams are once again expected to take up the search both north and south of the historic castle.
A police spokesman said the search was “on-going”, adding: “Resources are getting deployed this morning for the coastguard and us, the focus (will be) on that area both north and south of Dunnottar Castle.”
An Aberdeen Coastguard spokesman said rescue teams from Montrose, Arbroath and Stonehaven will get to work soon.
He added that the Stonehaven lifeboat might later be used in the search.
He said: “There’s no new news about it. Teams are mobilising up in Stonehaven just now. We’re dispatching coastguard teams from Montrose, Arbroath and Stonehaven.”
Police have urged anyone with any information that might help find her to contact the force.
Ms Johnstone is described as being around 5ft 6, of a slim build with short brown hair.
She was wearing blue jeans, ankle boots and possibly a blue zip-up jacket.
