Plans to build 50 homes at the north of an Aberdeenshire village could be approved tomorrow.
Scotia Homes wants to build the mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties on land near Westfield Cottage, Foveran.
The homes will be built in five separate clusters, and will be a mix of one, two, three and four bedrooms.
Prospective new tenants would also have access to an orchard and children’s play park.
Planning chiefs are recommending the proposals for approval, and have praised the design of the development – which they consider to be an “improvement” on other homes in the village.
In a report, director of infrastructure services Stephen Archer states: “The houses are all of a high standard of design, taking influences from traditional design features, proportions and built forms but accentuating these with modern elements.
“These are considered to be an improvement on the surrounding suburban housing stock found elsewhere in the village.”
Access to the site would be from the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road, prompting concerns from Foveran Community Council about road safety.
However, Mr Archer assures councillors that by the time the development is completed, the A90 should have been dualled from Tipperty – meaning the stretch at Foveran will have been “de-trunked” and therefore less busy.
He says Transport Scotland and Scotia have reached a “compromise” to ensure there would be no public safety issues if the development was approved.
The Formartine area committee will consider the plans when they meet in Ellon.
