Aberdeen’s festive celebrations have yet again been hit by the weather.
The first day of Curated in the Quad has been cancelled as heavy rain continues to pound the region.
Aberdeen City Council has confirmed the Christmas Village will also not open today as the city battled an amber weather warning.
Curated in the Quad is a festive market in Marischal Square quadrangle which brings together local makers from across the north-east and has been a big hit in recent years.
Due to extreme weather conditions, the Christmas Village will NOT be opening today and will reopen tomorrow morning at 10am. We apologise for any inconvenience. pic.twitter.com/t2YOEf3gvo

Heavy rain and strong winds have forced organisers – Charlie House in collaboration with Aberdeen Inspired – to postpone its opening.
Curated in the Quad was due to open at 11am today and remain open until 7pm, with locals expected to go along and enjoy stalls selling everything from arts and crafts to food and drink.
Aberdeen Inspired said in a post on Facebook it is hoped both attractions will open a 10am on Saturday as planned if the weather subsides.
Last year, the market raised more than £15,000 for Charlie House, with 100% of the profits from stallholder fees going to the local charity.
Cancelling Christmas
Bad weather has been hitting Aberdeen’s festive celebrations since Thursday, when the Christmas tree switch-on ceremony had to be cancelled due to the rain.
Codona’s Christmas Village opened as planned yesterday afternoon, but will remain closed for its second day.
There are more festivities planned for Sunday in the form of the much-loved Christmas light switch-on parade – with Santas on scooters preparing to jet down Union Street and a range of festive floats ready to go.
It is not yet known if the event will go ahead as planned but there are currently no signs of cancellation.
Aberdeen is still in the midst of an amber weather warning for rain, with flooding and travel disruption sweeping across the region.
