A candlelight vigil was held in Monymusk tonight for a woman swept away by the River Don.
The woman, named locally as Hazel Nairn, is still missing.
It is understood the grandmother was walking her dog, a Westie called Rory, when the tragedy unfolded.
Coastguards, fire and police launched a major search for her after the alarm was raised at about 3.20pm on Friday.
Searches are continuing, with coastguards focusing on the riverbanks at Fetternear Estate, near Kemnay.
Tonight, the community came together for a Hope for Hazel vigil at Monymusk Parish Church. Members of the public turned out to light a candle and say a prayer.
Monymusk community turns out in a show of support
Reverend Euan Glen said the family was “touched” by the community’s outpouring of support.
He said: “The church was virtually full and the family was very touched by the turnout from the community.
“It was lovely to see so many people there supporting a family in need.”
The church has extended an offer of support to everyone in the community.
Meanwhile, the village’s Christmas lights switch on due to take place next Saturday has been cancelled out of respect for a “dear friend and neighbour”.
Searches continue
It is understood Rory was not seen going into the river, and locals have been asked to keep an eye out for him.
The incident at the River Don occurred while severe flood warnings were in place across Aberdeenshire.
Searches were carried out late into Friday and throughout yesterday.
Inspector Roy Campbell said: “Officers, along with colleagues from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the coastguard, have resumed searches in the area where the woman was last seen.
“Conditions are tricky and dangerous and I am appealing to members of the public to stay away from flooded areas. Please be careful when you are out and about.”
