Today marks the first day of spring, but the wintry weather could last for a little while longer as forecasters are predicting a colder than average March.
According to long range forecasts the chilly weather is predicted to continue through March, with many parts of the UK expected to be covered in snow and frost before April makes way for warmer weather.
Snow is expected to settle in the Highlands and the Western Isles by tomorrow evening, with temperatures tonight dropping to a chilly -2C.
And wintry showers are expected to continue until Wednesday, before turning into cloud and rain on Thursday morning.
The outlook is similar for much of Aberdeenshire and Moray, with snow expected this evening in Kingussie and Grantown-On-Spey and minimum overnight temperatures of -2C.
And across Aberdeenshire and Moray wintry showers are expected to continue through the rest of the week, clearing up for a sunny Thursday morning.
No snow is expected for Aberdeen over the next few days, and it is expected to remain cloudy and chilly in the city for the rest of the week.
