A seven-year-old girl selflessly gave up presents to raise £250 for Aberdeen Cyrenians at her birthday party this year.
Ella Couper asked her friends to bring a donation for Aberdeen Cyrenians instead of a present when she invited them to her seventh birthday party on November 6.
She decided she wanted to raise funds for the charity after spending time thinking about homeless people and how important it is to help.
Ella said: “So I wanted to give money to homeless people because I really thought about them.
“I thought we are so lucky that we have nice things – we have a house, we’ve got rooms, our comfy beds to sleep in and lots of different types of food.
“I thought if we have more money to give to the homeless charity, well, they would be much happier.”
The seven-year-old raised £250 which will go towards helping vulnerable people in the north-east facing the increasing risk of crisis.
Her mum Louise Couper added: “We are beyond proud of Ella.”
Aberdeen Cyrenians
Aberdeen Cyrenians has supported some of the north-east’s most vulnerable and socially excluded for over 50 years.
As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, there has been a surge in demand for the services provided.
Jennifer McAughtrie, head of services at Aberdeen Cyrenians, said: “It is heart-warming to see someone as young as Ella actively getting involved in fundraising to support vulnerable people in our community.
“The funds raised by Ella will go towards helping people in the north-east faced with an increasing risk of crisis. We have always been grateful for the true community spirit in the north-east by all generations.
“Thank you so much.”
