Council bosses are due to go to court on Friday morning to seek an eviction order against an unauthorised traveller camp set up near a popular Aberdeen beauty spot.
About 15 vehicles, including caravans and work vans, sparked concerns among residents when they were spotted close to the entrance to Hazlehead Park last week.
A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council last night confirmed an eviction hearing was scheduled to take place at the city’s sheriff court at 10am on Friday.
He added: “Eviction proceedings were started as soon as possible.
“Assuming the order is granted, the eviction will take place on Friday.
“The order will cover the whole park.”
Councillor Martin Greig welcomed the hearing but said it was unfortunate that locals would have to suffer until the order was served.
He added: “It is reassuring that the order will cover the whole park as we need to do everything we can to protect the enjoyment and amenity of this public space.”
“There have been complaints about the illegal parking, driving along the public footpath, fire raising, urinating in the open spaces, loud noises and dogs running around.
“It is important to make the area secure against future harm and damage of this kind.”
Last year, council tax payers in Aberdeen paid £15,000 to clean up the mess left behind by travellers in the park.
