A new brochure highlighting Aberdeenshire’s stunning coastline and the attractions to visit along the way has been launched.
The 165-mile Aberdeenshire Coastal Trail takes visitors along clifftops, through coves and across expansive beaches, nature reserves and into traditional fishing villages.
Now VisitScotland, along with tourism groups in Banffshire, Fraserburgh and Stonehaven and other bodies, has developed a brochure showcasing the region’s coastal beauty.
The best spots for wildlife watching or even going for a dip in the sea have also been included, along with details of 30 different attractions visitors can see along the route – including Macduff aquarium, Fraserburgh Heritage Centre, Stonehaven harbour and the Tolbooth museum, St Cyrus nature reserve and Aberdeen fun beach.
About 75,000 copies of the leaflet have been published, and will be sent out to local attractions and businesses. They will also be available from tourist information points.
Philip Smith, VisitScotland regional director, said: “The launch of the Aberdeenshire coastal trail brochure is a fantastic boost for the region. It allows our visitors to explore the breathtaking coastline of Aberdeenshire right from Cullen in the north to St Cyrus in the south.”
Peter Argyle, chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure services committee, added: “The signposting of the Aberdeenshire coastal trail is an excellent idea, taking visitors past some of the area’s tourist highlights, dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife and will hopefully encourage people to stay longer and explore.”
Roger Goodyear, chairman of Banffshire Coast Tourism Partnership, said: “Aberdeenshire’s total coast has quite amazing breadth and richness and even more remarkably, the northern and eastern parts each have a distinct character and appeal of their own.
“The new coastal trail leaflet paints the total picture highly effectively and will be a great boost to promoting this magical part of Scotland.”
