A touch of glamour will be added to a north-east charity shop this week, thanks to a special donation from a well-known voice coach to the stars.
Methlick”s Yvie Burnett – a coach on hit show The Voice – has donated trousers, tops and dresses to Cornerstone’s Independent Forum (IF), which is hosting the shop at 346 George Street until Friday.
Profits from the week will go towards funding the lease of a minibus, allowing the charity to take its clients out and about at a reasonable cost.
Malcolm Gray, service manager at the charity, said: “People we support will be doing their bit by volunteering in the shop, so as well as a great fundraising opportunity, this is a really excellent way for them to develop valuable skills and experience.
“We are very grateful to everyone who has generously donated items to the shop including, of course, Yvie. Her evening dresses have been worn to an array of different occasions from singing in classical concerts to attending drinks receptions so we are anticipating that they will attract a lot of attention.”
The IF group meets monthly to discuss possible improvements to Cornerstone services.
It also regularly raises funds for the charity and members have been attending functions and social events to promote the mini-bus appeal.
So far, the group has completed a sponsored walk in Duthie Park, held two coffee mornings and organised the Climb Kili for Cornerstone fund.
