An 81-year-old man has died following a three car crash in Aberdeenshire.
The accident took place just before 4pm on the A920 between Dufftown to Huntly near Corse Maul, about six miles away from Dufftown.
The man was taken to Dr Grays hospital in Elgin for treatment for his injuries, but he died soon after.
The crash also injured the drivers of the two other cars, with one 22-year-old man being taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, and a 26-year-old man being treated at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours last night to allow police teams to investigate the accident.
Sergeant Rob Warnock of Aberdeenshire and Moray’s Road Policing Unit said: “Sadly I can confirm that a 81 year old male has died as a result of this collision and my thoughts are with the family and friends at this tragic time.
“There was a steady flow of traffic on this road and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or remembers any of the vehicles involved prior to the collision to call us on 101.”
The three cars involved were a maroon Ford Fiesta, a white Renault Twingo and a blue Volkswagen Golf.
