Stunning drone images showing Aberdeen in a new light have gone viral.
North-east photographer and videographer Glen Cairns has been exploring the skies around the Granite City with his drone.
Focusing on capturing the areas around Union Street and the Castlegate as the sun sets or during nightfall, the 28-year-old has struck a chord with many visitors and residents.
The beautiful footage is a far cry from the pictures we’re used to seeing with “to let” signs littering Union Street and unkempt guttering.
Glen says he has had lots of positive feedback on how the city looks since he started sharing his content on his social media platforms.
“The city gets slammed for having loads of vacant buildings and looking a bit run down.
“But when you take a step back and take a picture from the sky there’s a lot of life left in the place,” he said.
“On just one drone video I took of Aberdeen’s Christmas market there has been more than 300,000 views on Tik Tok and people were overwhelmed by how good it looks.”

The photographer has capitalised on the festive decorations adorning the city at the moment to capture it looking its best.
But footage taken earlier in the year still shows it as a city of beauty.
“It’s clear Aberdeen has the foundations to work with to become an even better version of itself. The way the granite sparkles as the sun sets can’t be seen anywhere else.”

Glen said he started out his career in videography in 2017 and “just fell into photography” which has become more of a hobby for him than a job.
His aerial works also include other north-east landmarks such as Slains Castle and Dunnottar Castle.
