Police officers in Banff had a surprise visitor this last month – when a confused seal pup arrived on their doorstep.
The creature was found wandering near the town’s police station and local officers briefly stopped traffic while they guided the pup safely back to the sea.
Banff Community Policing Team Inspector Colin Taylor said of the seal pup rescue: “We were alerted to concerns the little seal pup had become stranded after being spotted wandering next to the police station.
“Officers from the local station held traffic for a short time to allow the seal pup a safe journey back to the sea.”
Days later a similarly adventurous seal was found by staff outside a Stirling gym, more than 600ft from the Forth river. The marine animal was safely returned to the water.
