Future traveller camps in Aberdeenshire approved by councillors

Aberdeenshire councillors have approved proposals to create four traveller sites across the north-east.
At today’s full Aberdeenshire Council meeting, members said the plans were a “necessary step in the right direction” and would prevent future unauthorised camps from being set up across the region.
The local authority is pushing forward with plans to create the new facilities after figures revealed that almost 200 groups have been set up camp within its five districts since 2009.
Banchory councillor Karen Clark said: “I hope this report demonstrates how we as a council are committed to meeting the needs of these minority, ethnic groups.”
