It’s that time of year once again where schools put on a production of the classic Nativity play in front of an audience of proud parents.

Our photographers attended schools from both Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to capture some of the events taking place to mark the festive period.

In some schools, for one night only, the tea towel leaves the kitchen and is fashioned into head gear for the shepherds as homemade costumes are assembled for the annual show.

And while many would have been singing No Room at the Inn during their performance, there’s plenty of room in our gallery for the festivities from north-east schools.

Some schools opted for a concert of Christmas carols or a version of the Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol instead of the nativity play.

And others showed us their Christmas dinner, opened up for craft fayres and were even visited by Santa himself.

Below, we look at just some of the schools that invited us in.
