Almost a thousand homes in Aberdeenshire were left without power last night following an electrical fault.
The lights went out in 996 homes in the Balmedie area at 5.55pm, but thanks to the speedy work of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) engineers the power was back on by 6.40pm.
A spokesman for SSE said: “The fault was in one of the transformers.
“When there is a fault like this, the way our network is set up means we can reroute supplies onto different parts of the network, because our priority is to get our customer’s power back on as quickly and as safely as possible.
“We would like to apologies to our affected customers for any inconveniences caused.”
