A taste of spring was in the air over the weekend in Scotland as the country encountered some of the warmest weather of the year so far.
The sky remained clear throughout the weekend across Scotland on both Saturday and Sunday, in sharp contrast to the gales, floods and snow experienced last weekend.
Temperatures reached highs of 14C in Aviemore, 12C in Kinloss, 9C at Fyvie Castle.
Warm conditions emerged after a frosty night overnight between Saturday and Sunday, when temperatures plunged to as low as -7C in Aboyne.
Met Office spokesman John Mitchell said: “Across Aberdeenshire there was lots of sunshine, particularly in the west of the area.
“The clouds appeared around the area of Aberdeen.”
Temperatures did not however break last weekend’s high of 16.5C, recorded at Fyvie Castle.
Boat owners made the most of the stunning weather, and headed to Inverness Marina to get their vessels in ship-shape condition ahead of the summer.
The north’s ski-resorts made the most of the ideal weather, with Cairngorm, Glencoe and Nevis Range all reporting good weekends in the sunshine.
Nevis Range described conditions as “amazing” while Glencoe said they had experienced an “awesome” weekend.
Cairngorm said they expected the weather to remain good for snow sports in the mountains for the rest of the week.
In Aberdeen the International Street Market on Union Terrace, featuring over 70 stalls, was well attended.
Today is expected to see temperatures mostly between 5C and 6C, getting warmer at around 11am.
Mr Mitchell said: “There is a cloudier picture, lots of clouds, a few showers with weather generally on the cool side.”
Between tomorrow and Thursday some showers are expected alongside cool southeasterly winds.
Bright and sunny spells are predicted to emerge after Tuesday, with temperatures likely to be as high as 9C again on Wednesday and Thursday.
