Filmmakers from around the world will battle it out this weekend for Aberdeen’s most prestigious prize – the golden rowie.
Peacocks Visual Arts in Aberdeen will screen 30 stop motion films on Saturday at an event aimed to celebrate local and international animators.
Lindsay Gordon, director of Peacocks Visual Arts, said it was an opportunity to give people in the city an insight into the process of filmmaking and vote for their favourite director.
He added: “The movies we screen come from all over so it really is an international night.
“We are going to screen 30 short movies from about 6.30pm.
“We would like to screen more but frankly it would be just be too much, plus we don’t have big comfy cinema seats in the gallery.”
This is the second time the centre has held such a screening, which has taken nearly a year to plan.
Mr Gordon said: “This is the second time we have done a little animated film season here and we will probably hold one every two years.”
At the end of the night, the audience will be invited to vote for their favourite film and the maker will be presented with the shiny golden rowie.
But why a shiny golden rowie?
“Every award ceremony has a prestigious award like the golden globe, or the golden lion so we had to have a shiny prestigious award too”, said Mr Gordon.
The free screening will start at 6.30pm on Saturday and guests will be seated on a first come, first serve basis.
