An Aberdeen school has been praised by inspectors for its well-behaved pupils and sense of pride.
Hazlehead Primary School and Nursery Class in the west end received a strong report from Education Scotland following a visit in January.
The report found children at all stages enjoyed a positive learning experience and played well together during long periods of time.
Strengths were found in the literacy skills of pupils with the library proving particularly popular.
However, it was suggested that confidence could be gained in listening and talking.
Primary six pupils have were also praised for their detailed written reports about Africa with inspectors finding that similar opportunities should be given to all classes.
Primary five to primary seven pupils were congratulated on their numeracy skills but needed more practice with surveys and graph drawing.
The headteacher has been described as strong, effective and well-respected by pupils.
Despite changes in staff at the school over recent years, inspectors found that teachers work together to improve the learning experience for children.
Following the inspection, investigators concluded that they were satisfied with the professionalism in the school.
Aberdeen City Council’s convener of Education and Children’s Services, Councillor Angela Taylor, said: “It is clear from this positive report that the headteacher and staff are doing a great job at the school. I am also delighted that HM inspectors have recognised that the children are keen to learn and very proud of their school.”
