A long-running dispute among drivers in Aberdeen’s west end is closer to being settled after a council decision.
For more than a year, locals have complained that commuters working at the Hill of Rubislaw business park are taking up spots on surrounding streets due to a shortage of available spaces.
But now councillors have voted for officers to begin investigating a new £130,000 controlled parking area “hybrid” to relive local pressures.
This would include a core element of pay and display and residents-only spaces with additional space for priority parking.
It comes after a new planning application for 191 new spaces in the business park emerged this week.
The plans have been submitted by Kennedy Wilson Europe (KWE), the international arm of a California-based property investment firm.
The new proposal is to build an extra floor on the Seafield House car park to provide an extra 191 spaces, which would plug the current gap.
Contributions for the the administration, enforcement, and management costs of the new parking zones are being sought from the businesses based at the Hill of Rubislaw complex.
Local councillor Ross Thomson said: “Local residents will be grateful to see that steps are being taken to reduce this problem.”
