Police and ambulance crews were on the scene after the accident on the Peterhead A982 South Road between the McDonald’s roundabout and Meethill Road. Officers closed the road as a result of the incident at about 6.40 pm before it was reopened to traffic just after 10pm. The young boy was taken to hospital in Aberdeen by ambulance as a result of his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. A police spokesman said: “The pedestrian has been taken to hospital to get checked up. “He is in hospital being treated but it appears his injuries aren’t life-threatening or life-changing.” A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed: “We transferred the boy to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance.”
