A teenage Aberdeen dancer has proved he has all the right moves after being announced as the joint winner of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) 2015 Phyllis Bedells bursary.
After a tough day of competition against other hopefuls from across the globe, Harris Beattie, 16, a pupil at Danscentre in the city was awarded joint first in the prestigious competition in London.
Named in honour of Phyllis Bedells, a foundering member and vice-president of RAD, the bursary is awarded to young dancers aged 16 and under who have passed the RAD Intermediate and Advanced 1 exams with distinction.
Past winners of the bursary have gone on to win medals at the prestigious Genee international ballet competition.
Cults Academy pupil Harris will now be training for the competition, which takes place in Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
His dance teacher Karen Berry said: “We’re all very proud of him.”
