The Met office has issued a severe weather warning for most of mainland Scotland this Saturday.
A yellow “Be Aware” warning for extremely high winds across most of Scotland and Orkney has been issued, with high winds expecting to reach speeds of up to 65 mph.
The Met Office also warned that the high winds could bring localised travel disruption.
The warning completely covers all of Scotland and Orkney, with only the Western Isles escaping the high winds.
The Met Office said: “Winds will strengthen during Saturday Morning to bring gales to many locations.
“The swathe of strongest winds will start in the south-west of the warning region during the early morning before transferring north-eastwards through the day.
“Gust speeds are expected to reach between 55 and 60 mph, with more exposed locations seeing some gusts of 65 mph.”
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said that those in the north-east will have to endure the severe weather for the longest time: “The winds will moderate from the west during Saturday afternoon, with north-eastern Scotland the last place to see winds reduce.”
