Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White is to open a new restaurant at an Aberdeen hotel.
It will be based at the DoubleTree by Hilton at the city’s beach, as part of a £3million renovation of the premises by investment firm The Ability Group.
The new restaurant will have a steakhouse theme, and will feature dishes created by Mr White.
It is also understood the premises will not just bear his name.
Mr White, famous for being the head chef on ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen series, is planning trips to Aberdeen to train staff and make regular checks on the quality of the food.
He has been dubbed the first celebrity chef and at one time was considered the “enfant terrible” of the UK restaurant scene.
He was also at one time the youngest chef ever to have been awarded three Michelin stars. and trained fellow celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
The 53-year-old has also visited Afghanistan to cook Christmas meals for soldiers stationed there.
Chairman and chief executive of The Ability Group, Andreas Panayiotou, said: “We are refurbishing the whole hotel and will add a new gymnasium.
“We are bringing in Marco Pierre White and it will be his restaurant. I already have him in Cambridge and London at our other venues.
“Marco will be in the Aberdeen restaurant on a regular basis and will train staff while looking at the quality of the food. The restaurant, bar and lounge area will be completely gutted.”
