Festival of light Spectra returned to Aberdeen today (February 9) to illuminate the city’s landmarks and bring a touch of sparkle to cold winter nights.
Hosting a variety of jaw-dropping installations, Union Terrace Gardens were transformed into a sea of light thanks to Lantern Company’s Nature Nocturnal, Sound Intervention’s Luminosi Trees and two of Fantastic Planet’s large humanoid figures.
The remaining two inflatable giants are towering over Marischal College and Aberdeen Art Gallery.
Our photographer Chris Sumner captured this year’s installations as well as the joy of people who ventured out to experience the festival on a cold Thursday night.
Scroll down and take a look through our gallery to see if you can spot yourself or your friends and family.
Those who haven’t had a chance to experience the popular Spectra festival, will be able to do so between 6.30pm and 10pm until Saturday February 12.
