A golf fan is auctioning a jumper worn by the European team at last year’s Ryder cup to raise money for a cancer charity.
Warren Malcolm was given the jersey after working as a player care marshal at the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in September.
The auction will take place online in the run-up to the 144th Open Championship at St Andrew’s and he hopes interest around the event will help raise the bidding as high as £500.
Mr Malcolm, who works in the oil and gas industry, plans to donate the proceeds to Prostate Cancer UK’s Men United movement.
He said he was inspired to raise money for the organisation after his uncle and a very good caddy friend were diagnosed with the disease.
“Prostate cancer affects one in eight men in Scotland, and I hope that this event will help raise awareness and funds in support of the charity,” he said.
“Those at higher risk of developing prostate cancer are men aged 50 and over, men with a family history of the disease, and black men.
“My message to other men is to be aware of the disease and if you have any worries then please don’t hesitate to go to your GP or call Prostate Cancer UK’s specialist nurses.”
Bidding for the jumper has already begin and closes on Monday, April 13.
To take part, go to ebay and search for “Ryder Cup 2014 European Team Saltire Jumper.”
