Sun glasses were dusted off and winter coats left at home as north-east residents were finally treated to a spot of spring weather over Easter’s long weekend.
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire both experienced some of the best weather conditions in Scotland yesterday as temperatures soared to as high 17C.
Many city dwellers enjoyed the last day of the bank holiday weekend at the beach, where the popular Sand Dollar Cafe had a wave of customers through its door.
Suzie Millard, owner of the sea-side eatery, said: “It’s been mad busy over the weekend and I hope the great weather extends over the school holidays.”
Elsewhere, inland towns like Banchory and Aboyne had slightly higher temperatures of up to 18C, while Peterhead and Fraserburgh were a little cooler at 14C.
The good weather followed on from Saturday and Sunday’s sunny spells and came just a few days after the area battled snow flurries and high winds.
Although the north-east coast had some haar in the early hours of yesterday evening, the glorious conditions are also expected to last throughout the week.
A spokesman for The Met Office said the continued settled forecast across the north-east was due to high pressure currently hovering over the UK.
He added: “We have a very good spell of weather ahead of us.
“Temperatures have been high across the whole north east of Scotland, typical temperatures for this time of year would be around 10C so this is well above average.”
“Today and Wednesday will continue with highs of around 15C and 16C in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire with westerly winds sweeping away yesterday’s fog.”
“There will be a few clouds scattered across the north of Aberdeenshire over the next few days but the high spring temperatures should persist.”
