A woman is to go on trial accused of a string of assaults on young children at a private school that was later shut down by government ministers.
Prosecutors claim Hannah Jamieson carried out eight attacks on youngsters at the Hamilton School in Aberdeen between March and December 2013
The 26-year-old is also charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and acting aggressively towards children aged between 12 weeks and 12 months.
Yesterday at Aberdeen Sheriff Court she denied all of the charges against her. Defence solicitor John Hardie tendered not guilty pleas in her absence and a trial was set for later this year.
Prosecutors claim the former school employee repeatedly pushed a nine-month-old baby on the head in an attempt to get him to lie down to sleep in July 2013.
She is also alleged to have picked up a 16-month-old girl in an aggressive and forceful manner in September.
Another nine-month-old boy is alleged to have fallen and banged his head because she pulled him by the leg the following month.
Jamieson is also accused of pushing a 13-month-old boy on the body and forcing a youngster into a high chair.
Between April and December 2013, she is alleged to have assaulted a child who was about a year old by rolling up a blanket into a ball and throwing it at the infant, who then fell over.
A number of children aged between 12 weeks and 18 months-old are also alleged to have been assaulted.
The Hamilton School on the city’s Queens Road was shut by the Scottish Government last year after a joint probe by Scotland’s care watchdog and police.
An adjoining nursery closed just 24 hours later following a critical Care Inspectorate report.
At the time of closure, the school had 105 pupils and the nursery more than 200 children.
The family-run centre, which catered for children between the ages of three months and 12 years, was founded in 1975 and was Scotland’s only privately owned day school.
The cost of a place started at £1,000 a month.
Kathlyn Taylor, 65, the owner and principal of the school, was also charged with alleged criminal offences against children in February last year.
