At around 3.20pm, the fire and rescue service received reports of a blaze in Cummings Park Crescent, in Northfield. Only one appliance, from North Anderson Drive, was needed to put out the fire and the crew left the scene a short time later. Nearly an hour later, at 4.10pm, the fire and rescue service were alerted to another grass fire in the same street, which was extinguished by 4.20pm. Elsewhere, in Moray, a grass fire took hold at the disused Towiemore Quarry, near Keith at around 4.20pm. One appliance was dispatched from Huntly and the blaze, described as “minor” was put out by 5pm. Meanwhile, for more than 24 hours firefighters have been battling a huge wildlfire in Dornoch.
