Police were called to a two-vehicle crash near an Aberdeenshire village, off the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road.
Officers were alerted to an incident on the B966, west of Fordoun, at about 4pm on Wednesday.
The road was cordoned off and drivers were diverted via the unclassified road towards the village.
Two people are understood to have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, however, there is no information on any injuries.
Images show three police cars remaining at the scene on Wednesday evening, with officers carrying out investigations.
The road has since reopened following the incident.
On Wednesday, a police spokesman said: “Police were called around 4.05pm to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the B966 at Laurencekirk.
“Officers attended and are still dealing.”
