A van was set on fire in a north-east town after allegedly being abandoned by its owner.
The vehicle is understood to have been parked in the Westshore Road area of Fraserburgh for several weeks before the blaze.
Last night angry residents called for it to be removed.
Local man Dennis Taylor said: “It doesn’t appear that the fire brigade were present, it’s completely gutted. How long is it going to be left lying there?”
Councillor Brian Topping, the chairman of the Fraserburgh’s safety group, said he would be contacting Aberdeenshire Council to discuss the removal of the remains of the vehicle this morning.
“Whatever happened, hopefully police will be able to trace its owner. It’s their responsibility to get it removed,” he said.
“I’m very disappointed that something like this has happened and I would hope the council would remove it if the police can’t get to the bottom of it – if only for safety reasons.
“If kids see an old vehicle, whether it’s burned out or not, it could certainly pose a risk.
“Questions can always be asked later.”
Police and fire and rescue chiefs said neither had been made of the fire.
