It is understood the five-year-old was riding a scooter when he was involved in a collision with a black range rover. The youngster was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital by ambulance. The accident happened at Elrick, near Westhill. Emergency services were called to the small village around 7pm. The accident happened near the junction between Burnland Place and Carnie Crescent. The road was closed for about three hours as police carried out an investigation at the scene and interviewed residents. It is understood the boy was out playing with friends when the collision happened and that his family stays at Burnland Place. The driver of the range rover was not injured.
