A new support network for diabetes sufferers is to be launched in the north-east.
There are currently more than 26,000 people living with the condition in the Grampian area, according to figures published by Diabetes Scotland.
The number has increased in the past few years – with 1,995 new cases of Type 2 diabetes reported in the region in 2013.
Information meetings are being held at St Mark’s Church of Scotland hall on Rosemont Viaduct on Wednesday at 7.30pm and next Saturday at 10am.
Organisers hope to launch a family group for children with diabetes and a group for adults.
Honor Shaw, Diabetes Scotland’s volunteer development support officer, said: “We have 26 established local groups across Scotland where people can come together to share information and experience of diabetes with others in a similar situation.
“Group members provide support for one another but they also organise fun social events, fund-raisers, and arrange for expert guest speakers to attend meetings.
“We look forward to meeting potential new group members and having the opportunity to discuss how Diabetes Scotland can help support people in the area with diabetes and their families.”
