Fire crews remain at the scene of a Peterhead property where a fire broke out earlier today, causing a possible “explosion”.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the house in Ravenscraig Road at about 3pm.
Three crews worked for nearly 90 minutes to extinguish the flames.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now underway, and police are working closely with the fire service.
A fire spokesman said: “The stop message came back at 4.25pm.
“There’s an investigation now going on.”
It is not yet clear if anyone was in the semi-detached property when the fire broke out, but the neighbouring house was evacuated and the elderly resident there is safe.
A police spokesman said: “At 3pm we were advised by the fire and rescue service that there was a possible explosion and fire within a property at Ravenscraig Road.
“The neighbouring property has been evacuated and the elderly resident is safe.”
A fire spokeswoman said she could not confirm the reports of an explosion.
Firefighters used a jet, two hose reel jets and six breathing apparatus to beat the flames.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said they had not been required to take anyone to hospital.
