Police have confirmed a man has died after a house fire in Peterhead today.
Emergency services were called the semi-detached property on Ravenscraig Road at about 3pm, after receiving reports of a fire and possible explosion.
Police have now confirmed the body of a man was found within the property.
A full investigation into the cause of the blaze has now been launched.
Inspector Simon Reid said: “Police, along with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended a property in Ravenscraig Road, following reports of a fire at a domestic property.
“Sadly, the body of a male has been found within the property and the cause of death remains unexplained at this time.
“A joint Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire.”
The man’s elderly next-door neighbour was evacuated as a precaution while emergency services tackled the fire.
Three fire crews fought for 90 minutes to extinguish the flames, with the teams wearing breathing apparatus as they used a two hose reels and a jet.
Police have closed off the road while investigations continue.
