An Aberdeen family battled it out on ITV’s Family Fortunes at the weekend – delighting the audience with some out-of-the box answers.

The Middleton family – consisting of former-RAF man Colin, his wife Susan and sons Andy and Cammy and Cammy’s girlfriend Ebony – went up against the James family from Hemel Hempstead.

Presenter Gino D’Acampo tested the families on everyday questions surveyed by 100 members of the public before the show.

Kicking the game off, Colin was fastest on the buzzer when asked: “Which part of the body do people most often get tattooed?”.

He scored the top answer of arms, with other family members filling in leg, ankle and back before striking out.

The James family were then able to steal the round with “wrist” earning 60 points.

Something you put chocolate on?

The Middletons seized control of round two, correctly answering what you “should never be late for – putting them well ahead of the James family.

Unfortunately, their lead would not last as the James family managed to steal the next two rounds to put them in front with 201 points to 76.

A highlight was the question “Something you put chocolate on?” which Middleton family member, Andy answered “a person” earning laughter from the audience and confusion from host Gino.

Mum Susan won the family a 55-inch Samsung TV after landing a spot prize.

But after the final two double money rounds, they lost out to the James family by 222 to 393 points.

Family Fortunes doubled their earnings, meaning they walked away with a total of £444 as well as the Samsung TV and a commemorative doorknob.

The James family went on the win £10,000, which will go towards a trip to Italy.

The episode is available to view on the STV Player.
