A man was taken to hospital following an alleged assault on Langstane Place in Aberdeen in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the city centre road, near the corner of Dee Street, at about 7am.
The alleged attack is said to have happened at about 1.15am.
A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
A 28-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday.
Police were at the scene throughout the day, with forensic officers seen working in the area.
The owner of nearby Antalya Kebab House said he was not working last night, but his staff told him about an incident at around the same time.
He said: “My staff told me the noise was very bad.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 7am on Tuesday May 2, police received a report of an assault on Langstane Place, Aberdeen, which had taken place around 1.15am.
“A 22-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday May 5.”
