A blue BMW and a white Mazda collided on the notorious A947 Turriff to Banff road near Plaidy around 6.15pm on Tuesday evening. Emergency services closed a stretch of the busy commuter route for several hours while fire crews freed a woman from the Mazda. Two women and one man were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where they were treated for minor injuries. Last night a police pokeswoman said: “Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.” Last month a 54-year-old biker was killed in a crash on the A947 near Plaidy. There have been repeated calls from councillors for new safety measures on the route. It is understood Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure committee will discuss proposals at its next meeting.
