SNP sources say they’re “quietly confident” of victory in all three Aberdeenshire seats based on early postal votes.
Early votes are reaching the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s counting hall where the votes are being tallied for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, Banff and Buchan and Gordon.
Banff and Buchan has been held by the nationalists since 1987 meaning there is little surprise there.
But the SNP surge looks set to spread to WAK with incumbent of 18 years Sir Robert Smith losing his seat and former First Minister Alex Salmond taking the toughly contested Gordon constituency.
